Is your computer over run with viruses?

One of the most popular reasons that a computer makes it into my shop is viruses. The record number of viruses that I have found on one computer is 1178.

They were having trouble with keeping their computer turned on as well as not being able to connect to the internet once they were able to get the computer up and running. Did they have virus protection? Yes, but they had it set to manually update and hadn't updated it in over a year so not only were the virus patterns out of date but the subscription was expired as well.

How do you keep ahead of the virus programmers? Keep your virus software up to date. Run a full scan at least once a month and a quick scan atleast once a week. Also if you have a Name Brand virus protection software installed on your computer then I recommend installing a second virus software as well. If the virus programmers can disable the software then they can do anything they want to your computer. They always go after the Name Brand software because they will be able to spread their mess to a larger audience if they can disable the big ones. Am I recommending to stay away from the Name Brand software.

Not a chance as they are great software companies and their software works great. I am just letting you know that the programmers that think up the viruses first set their sights on disabling those first.

For secondary virus protection I recommend a free or paid version of AVAST or AVG. These links are to the free version located at www.download.com.

I also recommend Panda Antivirus Software
